Even though you might not be where you had hoped you would be. By early twenties a fancy degree in your hand. A plush job by twenty-five. Marriage with someone you love after that. A perfect life, just like Disney Movies. But life doesn’t work like that.
There are certain expectations society sets for us. But it’s alright. You don’t have to be the way these standards expects you to be. It doesn’t work like that.
We forget that no two people born are alike. No two things are an exact replica of each other. Each and everything that has existed in this Universe is unique. Different. One of its own kind. Even the identical twins born of the same set of chromosomes, having the same genes -these building blocks of life – are different from each other.
So why should your life be alike to someone else who existed before you, had his own set of privileges in life? What gives you the right to condescend your existence by comparing with someone who had not faced the challenges you faced? Had not encountered the obstacles that were unique to your life?
Life is really mysterious. Science has barely scratched the surface of this thing called life. Why we exist? For what we spend eighty summers and eighty winters on this planet? What is the this planet we call home, earth? Its objective in this solar system? The objective of this solar system in this galaxy? And this galaxy in this universe? Nobody knows the answer to it. These are the mysteries that many have tried to solve. But they couldn’t. Not even the brightest of the minds that have lived here.
What we know, and have always known is that life is like this. Unpredictable, like the flow of a river. Some places it is calm like the surface of a sea, but turbulent like a storm at others. At some points, it rises, and at others, it falls. It is like a melodious song sometime, but ear splitting cacophony at others. This is the only truth that has existed, always, since the beginning of time.
So maybe you’re still looking for the things that you hoped to have got by now. Maybe you still haven’t found the person with whom you feel at home. Maybe the job you are in sucks big time, and you feel there is no way out of there. Maybe you have lost someone. Someone dear and close to you. So much that the pain is so deep that you can’t escape it, it has reached to your bones, to every atom of your existence.
And now you are thinking you are stuck, forever, in this life.
But trust this, it will pass. This moment will pass. This time that feels neverending will pass. And this feeling of being lost in this cruel world will also pass.
For that is what life is. It never stays the same. It keeps on moving forward. And it will give you, that happiness that you always wanted, maybe not in the form that you had hoped or wished, but in a form, at a place, you would never be expecting.
And then everything will go away. The night that you feared would never pass. The pain that you thought would never ease. The fear that you imagined would never go. The feeling of failure that you had started believing to be an intrinsic part of you…
All this will go away.
So it’s alright. If you are where you think you should not have been, don’t beat yourself for that. Hold on, be hopeful, don’t stop trying, don’t stop believing.
Because just beyond the dark horizon lies the sky, so beautiful that it will take your breath away. Its color violet, deep as the color of a aged bruise. Beautiful for it is the color nourished through the bruises you suffered in your life. Every pain you suffered, every obstacle that you faced had given the essence to this life. A life that only you could have lived. The life only you could have forged. And having lived your life, all its ups and down, you’ll cherish what you’ve achieved and now you’ll love the view.
The flowers of infinite colors will be around you. Their scent intoxicating, enthralling. A breeze rustling through the trees. Its sound melodious like a song of nature. You’ll be at peace. You’ll be in love. You’ll feel alive like never in your life. And then, you will lean back on the chair, cross your arms behind your back, close your eyes in that state of utmost relief, and …
… and your fingers locked with the fingers of that person whom you have finally met. Yes, You’ve met that person, when you were not looking, least expecting. It will make you look back at your life and say
‘It’s all worth it. This is the life I had always hoped for.”
You’ll be thankful for your life.
