Apathy, that’s what you need if you want to live in this country. An inherent and infinite capacity to stay immune to what is happening around you. Apathy against the widespread corruption, apathy against that blatant killings, apathy against the ministers who are hell-bent upon pulling back the country hundred years back into the medieval age. This is mind-numbing.
This is what a politician promised to provide if she wins the forthcoming election!!
How can you stay sane when you hear politicians doling out promises to legalise child marriage in their legal campaigns?
Doesn’t this reflect the dire situations of the politics of our country where people can even think like this! I bet an educated and civilised mind can’t even think of such a proposition. It takes immense crassness, utter nonsense on the part of someone who can even think such a proposition. To make child marriage legal!
In a country which takes pride in one of the nine countries to have sent a man to space. In a country which is one of the few nuclear power in the world. In a country which has become the hub of the information technology revolution in the world. And in a country which can spend over three thousand crores of rupees on a politician’s statue – in such country talks like making child marriage legal, and that girls invite getting rapes by wearing western clothes, is really mind shattering.
What can you do in a country where politicians like Jayalalitha who have gotten millionaire at the expense of a common man are worshipped, celebrated as God?
One only has to glance at a news website to see what I’m talking about. A traffic cop police beat a youth to death in Delhi. While in UP, a mob beats a police offer to death over cow slaughter controversy. Modi or Gandhi – we are still not safe in our country, we are living in a high-risk zone where one day we might be run over by a car, or get crushed in a mob fury, and nobody would battle even an eyelid. One news among the top hundred news of the hour! That’s what we will be reduced to.
In the movie Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, the disgruntled protagonist goes on a rant saying …
“I should beat up every politician, all those who do shit, speak shit. What’s there in this country? It’s better to leave it and run away from it. What is this nation anyways? Broken. does anyone do anything? ….”
And the rant goes on.
But the essence, at least the first part is right. That in a country where politicians are making sure that majority of the population stay illiterate so that they can exploit them through offers like “legalizing child marriage,” isn’t it better to leave this country?
PS – When Kejriwal emerged into the scene, there was a hope that we have finally get a party that will revolutionise Indian Political System. That has remained a dream, we all have seen that. With Yogi we thought UP will change. But the recent developments gives out a clear message – UP will continue to be UP. Doesn’t matter who come to power. Now as we approach the election, issues like Ram Mandir, and the counter by oppositions betray the never-changing situation of our political system. The recent comments like legalising child marriage and murder of a policeman in the broad daylight only brings to light the dire condition our political system
