One of the most difficult thing in this world is to make somebody love you back. To convince them that you love them, with your heart -bleeding heart. Doesn’t matter how much you love them. Doesn’t matter how much you care for them. Doesn’t matter how many times you say to them. They will walk away.
It doesn’t even matter that you have given up even the last shred of your self respect, have gone to them umpteen times, with a sparkle in your eyes and hope in your heart, have done anything and everything in a hope that they would see, one day, how pure and selfless your love is. Because they just don’t understand the language you speak.
If they do not love you, there are no words in the dictionary that can help you to convince them . And the irony is, the more you try to convince, the more far you will push them back. The things you do with love is trivial for them, maybe childish, or even stupid. They will laugh at your ways, making a jest of your gestures, rendering you a worthless clown in a circus who can only make one smile, but never touch their hearts.
But you still love them.
You love them so much that you learn everything about them -their ways, their small habits, their likes, their dislikes. And you center your world around them. You order to eat what they like. You go to places where they have fun. You crack silly jokes when they want to laugh. You give your shoulder when they want to cry.
Even your day revolves around them. You wake up when they are awake. You sleep only when you ensure they are sound asleep. The first and the last thing you do is you check on them, on Facebook and Whatsapp.
And in this way you become a lamp that brings light in their lives, makes it bright and cheerful, but they don’t know, and might never know, that you are burning like the wick of a candle, slowly and painfully, in a longing for a day that they would understand, why you smile when they smile, and why you cry when they cry.
